Pianist, Elizabeth G. Hill, DMA, is an accomplished soloist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist, and educator. Her notable concert appearances include performances for the Embassy Concert Series in Washington DC, the Center for Jewish History in New York, and the Robert-Schumann-Haus in Zwickau, Germany. She is the co-founder of Meraki, a chamber ensemble devoted to awakening cultural compassion through music. Most recently, her ensemble, Meraki, was awarded as a recipient of Chamber Music America’s 2018 Classical Commissioning Program, for their current collaboration with award-winning composer, Jerod Tate.

A devoted supporter of new music, Elizabeth’s notable performances of contemporary works include John Hilliard’s Piano Concerto No. 2, and recent premieres at the The Fringe Festival(Washington, DC), and with the Great Noise Ensemble at the West Fork New Music Festival (Fairmont, WV). Elizabeth is the Principal Pianist with Baltimore-based chamber orchestra, Symphony Number One; a group primarily dedicated to performing substantial works by emerging composers. Elizabeth is also an administrator of the District New Music Coalition, which promotes the advancement of contemporary music in the Washington, DC area. 

Elizabeth has presented numerous lecture recitals and presentations on solo piano and chamber works, including works by Haydn, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Leoš Janáček, and Mieczysław Weinberg. Her most recent topic “Chamber Music in Exile” is an exploration of the intimate musical narratives composed by émigré composers of the World War II era.

After early musical studies in her hometown, Anchorage, Alaska, Elizabeth received the B.A. in Music Performance from Mary Baldwin College (through the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted), the M.M. in Piano Performance from James Madison University, and the D.M.A in Chamber Music from The Catholic University of America. Her principal instructors of piano include Drs. Lise Keiter, Eric Ruple, Gabriel Dobner, and Ralitza Patcheva.
